It was a pleasure working with Cynthia over the last three months.
She understood what we were going through with our kids and was able to provide us with solutions to overcome many of the day to day obstacles that were causing a disconnect between us and our kids. No matter your current parenting style, she is nonjudgmental in her approach, and was very supportive during the process even when we were making mistakes.
To truly reap the benefits of her training it requires a change in thinking and a shift from the traditional parenting paradigm.
Although this can take time and practice to get right she provides many tools that can be used immediately as scaffolding until your new skills fully develop. The after/then tool was one of my favorites, simple but effective, it almost felt like cheating. Once you are able to make a connection with your children and truly listen to them, find out what they need so you can support them, they will start to listen to you.
Before Cynthia’s training, homework was a nightmare that often ended in yelling and tears.
It was not uncommon for homework to last from when they got home until they went to bed. We have now shifted the focus from having all the home work done perfectly, to it is your responsibility to do the homework the way the teacher expects in the allotted time. Amazingly they now manage their own homework time and it takes little intervention from us, allowing us to get more done, and they now have time to play.
The tools, methods and techniques Cynthia teaches are also transferable to other relationships and areas of your life.
My wife and I are now better able to communicate and understand each other now that we have learned the common pitfalls that cause many communication problems. I have also found conflict resolution at work is much smoother now that I don’t try to solve everyone’s problem for them but support them in finding their own solution to their problems.
