On Wednesday, October 25th, I taught the “How to Relieve Tween’s Stress and Anxiety Confidently and Create Calm” class. I included a new interactive activity on Zoom where folks could annotate on the slide with a circle, underline, check, etc. to show their choices. Many parents passionately underlined and pointed to “not doing chores” as one of the big areas of stress in the family.

I’d like to give you the basic highlights and then show you where you can actually practice these new skills to help your child release stress and anxiety and become calm.
- When children are stressed, the limbic system shuts down, and they can’t think.
- Your BIG goal, therefore, is to respond in ways so your children can release their stress and reconnect to the rational mind.
- The three skill sets to learn in order to relieve stress are:
- Determine the goal of releasing stress
- Stop stress-creating language
- Respond with empathetic phrases
Let’s say you came to class or missed it. Either way, I imagine your kids get upset and stressed, and there are many times you don’t know what to do. You might even have your own stress levels raised.
What I really want to inspire you to do is take action to learn these steps and make changes in your relationship with your kids, tweens, and teens.
